week of september 25–28: Informal
Various casual activities and gatherings arranged for those who can join earlier in the week. Arrive any time and enjoy one of the most relaxing, luxurious spots in Greece. Let us know your arrival date so that we can get the wedding posse going as people trickle in!
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 29: WHITE WELCOME PARTY
While we wanted a private and intimate spot for the wedding itself, the town of Chora is an exciting labyrinth that no trip to Mykonos would be complete without experiencing. Shuttles will depart the hotel throughout Friday afternoon; wander the town at will, but eventually follow the people with lanterns to the storefront of Efimerides… the gallery owner will show you the way to a secret courtyard. We'll enjoy music (those of you who have been to Davos may recognize a special guest), mingling, and feasting followed by shuttles back to the hotel for nightcaps by the pool.
Attire:
This is your chance to wear white at a wedding — casual or elegant. The late matriarch of the venue left some very specific wishes: only white flowers allowed in her garden. Ever. And so in Maroulina's honor (and in popular Mykonian tradition) we invite you to contribute to the scenery and the Mediterranean vibe by wearing something white (cream/ecru/beige/ivory/whatever) if you have it. Or not. Just come anyway.
saturday september 30: ceremony & reception
Shuttles will begin leaving the hotel at 5pm, with the last departing at 6pm. The view will be worth the short drive up to one of the higher spots on the island, where an eccentric landowner once decided to start building a castle but never finished it. After the ceremony at sunset, dinner, drinks, and dancing until late into the night. Shuttles back to the hotel until the wee hours. If you wander off to explore the grounds, just beware the attack donkey, Romeo; he's letting us use his yard for the night, but he's pretty ornery about it. (The last time he chased us, Matthew ran up some stairs and took pictures of Tatiana hiding in the tree she was forced to climb.)
Attire:
We suggest you dress to impress! Creative black tie optional, summer elegant… ball gowns and tails if that's your style (that's how the Lingos-Webb clan tends to roll), or more laid-back island cocktail; whatever puts you in the mood to dance until the sun comes up. Ceremony will overlook the sunset, so glasses might be in order. Once the sun goes down, you may be surprised at how chilly it will get up on the cliff. Mykonos is known for fickle & mischievous winds, so a shawl or jacket (and an extra hair tie) are a good idea. Most terrain is paved, though there will be minimal walking across some grass/dirt paths (Tatiana will be rocking her highest, spikiest heels...but those of you who know her will take that for what it's worth). The venue is private, remote, and secure. Guys: suit or tux. Ladies: long or cocktail dress.
Sunday october 1: brunch poolside
Casual gathering for friends who can stick around. In the afternoon, maybe head for some people watching at the Nammos beach bar. Shuttles to the airport for those departing.
Attire:
Smart summer casual.
